How much can you buy a Domain that has PR for?

So the question has been asked more than a few times; How much can I buy a domain with pagerank for?

Ok so first things first. Pagerank is assigned to pages by google not domains specifically and each page of a website can have PR.

So you need pages to have pagerank.

Now the way a page gets pagerank is from the incoming links, how many of them there are, the quality of those links (does google consider the pages linking to be authoritative?), are then one way links or reciprocal links, etc.

Now I know the question was how much can you buy a PR domain for but we’re getting there.

What are you buying when you look for a PR domain?

You’re buying the underlying link structure not the number that google assigns. That number is worthless without a good underlying link structure.

So the main answer is that how much you can get a domain that has PR pages with is very subjective. It’s kind of like asking how much you can buy traffic to your website for. It’s very subjective.

That being said, if you’re wanting to know the cheapest you can get a domain that has some pagerank to the index page (or to any other page for that matter) the answer really is that they can be found for as little as the cost of domain registration.

Best I’ve done so far is $8.00 for a domain I registered that had a pagerank of 4 to it;’s homepage.

I actually didn’t realize that it had any pagerank at all when I registered it and as soon as I put up some content it was at PR4.

Since then I have done this with a few other domains for the registration fee.

Typically though you can expect to pay at auction prices starting at $59 and up for a domain with PR3 and up and prices can go quite high depending on the domain. The most I have spent on any domain to date is $10,000 however that domain did not have any PR.

The most I’ve bid a PR domain up to is $2500 (PR6) and the current owner has completely decimated it’s pagerank to PR4. I have no idea what this apparent domainer, or perhaps aspiring domainer, was thinking when he let this expensive purchase pretty much go down the drain.

That being said I have also purchased many PR5 domains for less than $300 and a few PR5′s for less than $100 so they are definitely out there.

Anyhow the basic deal is that you just have to get into the mix and if you see a domain that has a great linking structure that also has PR put your bid in and see what you get.

There are still great deals to be had and thousands of domains with PR to buy at some great prices.

A Note to Our Visitors About For Sale Listings

As you can see we do not currently have for sale listings for Domains with pagerank or for pagerank links.

We are still working on changing the format of this site and are unsure as to when we will add a classified section for promotion of such sales.

At this juncture we have plans mostly for education on why you would purchase a domain / link with PR, where to get them, and what the drawbacks are as well as the advantages.

We also plan to offer more in depth training for those interested in really learning the ins and outs with someone helping them out with the details.

Some information will be free and some will be paid but in the end this will be a valuable resource offered by someone that has been engaged in this segment of internet marketing since 2005.

So make sure you bookmark this page so that you can stay tuned for updates or subscribe to the rss feed or whatever makes you feel good about making sure you get the info dished out on this site.

Happy domaining, link building, and whatever internet marketing vein you might be pursuing when you stumbled onto this page.

Buying & Selling Pagerank Links

To start we want to warn our readers that buying & selling links and PR  is specifically addressed on their site and link building schemes are frowned on.

It is not our aim to either encourage or discourage you from buying or selling any kind of links but to inform you of what options you have when doing so.

What you choose to do with this information is done so at your own risk.

Now just like buying a domain with PR you can just go ahead and purchase a link instead and there are many sites that you can do this from and typically you can sell links to the same places that you can buy them from.

Google says that purchasing links for the sole purpose of manipulating your rank in the engines is against their TOS.  Can it get your site to rank higher? The answer is yes.

Should you do it?

That’s something that you will need to figure out for yourself.

Now it would seem based on the language their rules of link purchasing that purchasing a link because you think it might bring more traffic and business but the link also just happened to have PR might be ok but seriously read the TOS for yourself and make an educated decision on if what you have in mind is going to work for your purposes and is worth any risk that might be involved.

As a side note Google has severely penalized some very large companies that were engaged in this practice. However in general we believe that if done properly the risk is very low and the rewards can be substantial.

As far as selling links from your site the above information also applies but look at it from the seller’s point of view instead of the buyer’s.

For those that have already decided that they wish to buy or sell a link with PR (pagerank) we are working on a downloadable pdf that we will add at a future date with further and more in depth information on the topic.

How to Buy a PR3 Domain

So you want to buy a PR3 domain huh?

It’s really not all that hard and there are PR3, PR4, PR5, & higher domains all over ripe and ready for buying.

There are multiple ways that you can go about buying such a domain from auctions to buying from the owner and while it’s not recommended that you purchase a domain solely for the page rank we definitely recommend buying domains for everything that makes pagerank actually mean anything.

Think about it for a minute… What actually makes pagerank mean anything at all?

Really it’s the inbound links to the page that has pagerank isn’t it?

And then it’s also about what the traffic that you might potentially get from those links and any resulting SEO advantage and how much that traffic could be worth.

So when you buy a domain or a link on a domain don’t actually just buy it for the page rank but analyze what it’s actually worth.

Pagerank can be a great tool to measure what a domain name could be worth but really is not any good just on it’s own.

You need to analyze the links coming in and how good they are. Are they just a bunch of spammy blog comments or are they high quality hard to get links? Are there just 1 or 2 links that are passing the pr to the page / domain in question or are there many high quality links?

How old is the domain?

What is the topic? How much will the ongoing value be?

All these are questions to consider before dropping your hard earned cash on a domain that has PR.

In a future post we’ll talk in depth about where you can find and methods of finding domains with PR.

For now though a great place to find good PR domains at auction is here.
